Brecia Kralovic-Logan

Brecia Kralovic-Logan is the founder of the Women’s Woven Voices project.

The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center continues to give away free art supplies every Friday in February. On Friday, Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be free weaving kits available. Artist and founder of Women’s Woven Voices Brecia Kralovic-Logan will be present to share about the weaving project which is an international, collaborative art project that promotes the empowerment of women through writing, weaving and sharing. She will also bring one of the collaborative tapestries that has already been created to display.

“There is something so elemental about weaving a piece of cloth. It’s archetypal. It connects us with our ancestors and with many different cultures around the world,” Kralovic-Logan said in a release this week. “It reminds us of our human resourcefulness and resilience. It connects our hearts with our hands.”

The Arts Center has also invited local Girls Scouts and members of Girls Inc. of Carpinteria to participate and will display a tapestry created by Carpinteria residents in the future. Additional details about the project along with instructional videos can be found at
