The Carpinteria Junior Lifeguard Program will be held this summer with modifications that allow for compliance with state and county Covid-19 pandemic requirements. This year’s program will consist of three two-week sessions starting on July 6 and running through Aug. 14. 

To ensure a fun and safe experience for participants, Parks & Recreation Department staff have designed a program that allows for social distancing and meets all mandates by the County Public Health Department and the CDC. 

Program registration will be held from Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26. Registration packets are available through They must be completed and dropped off at the Carpinteria Community Pool between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. starting on June 22. The price for a two-week session is $195. 

In order to participate, all new JGs must pass a swim test.

Participants must complete a 100-yard swim in under 2:25 minutes,

 tread water for two minutes, and swim underwater for 10 yards.
