Track and Field
March 11 - The Carpinteria High School track and field team won their league opener in Santa Paula, with the boys beating the Cardinals, 66-60, and the girls also taking Santa Paula, 76.5 to 49.5.
Vincent Rinaldi won the 100 and 200 meters, equaling his seasonal best of 11.31 seconds in the 100. Sophomore Mateo Handall won the 400 with a Personal Record of 52.83. Both relay teams were victorious, as the 4 x 100 team ran a 45.91; and in the 4 x 400 relay, Victor Rinaldi was able to come from behind on the anchor leg to pull out the win.
Fatima Cervantes won two events and was part of the winning 4 x 400 relay team. She ran 56.51 in the 300 hurdles and high jumped 4 feet, 10 inches for the girls. Mercey Torres ran a Personal Record of 66.39 to win the 400 and was also on the 4 x 400 team for the girls. Caton Pettine won the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.72.
