Carpinteria High School football player Will Collins was named the Male Athlete of the Week at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table’s Luncheon held at Harry’s Plaza Café on Sept. 9. The Carpinteria senior was moved from quarterback to running back in the Warriors matchup last week against Beverly Hills. Collins scored five touchdowns, with four on the ground and a touchdown catch in a 57-6 thumping of the Beverly Hills Normans.

“Last time I played running back was eighth grade, so it was a while, but I love running the ball,” said Collins. The six-foot, four-inch, 215-pounder amassed 157 yards on 13 carries to lead his team to its first victory of the year.
