The Carpinteria United 10U girls soccer all-star team took part in the Apricot Jam Tournament April 6-7 and earned a first-place finish. The local girls outscored their opponents 14-0 in pool play to earn a spot in the finals on Sunday. Carpinteria United battled Agoura in a back and forth contest and managed to pull out a thrilling 3-2 victory on a late fourth quarter goal. Head coach Mike Miller said, “The key to winning the championship was the play of our defense. We didn’t give up a goal in our first three games which was huge. We also got some timely goals and great goalie play. I’m very proud of all 10 girls, each one of them contributed and they continue to improve.”
