There are over 14,000 people in our city who will benefit from a new and much-needed downtown hotel that will focus on travelers arriving by train and car who can walk into town and visit the businesses we all depend on.
In addition to the money they will spend, many new jobs will be created. Also, the city will share in revenue generated from the hotel, an amount expected to be in the $500,000 range annually. Tourists and those visiting friends and relatives will have a first-class resort to enjoy while attending graduations, weddings, festivals, events and family celebrations.
Revenue from the hotel will assist in city efforts to repair our roads, support our parks (including a dog park and a skate park), provide funds for our library, support law enforcement and take advantage of opportunities for additional open space.
Thanks goes to our City Council members who are putting the interests of the whole community first by supporting the hotel, which will provide opportunities we need now. This hotel will be a cornerstone, complementing the revitalization of our town as we ready for the challenges of the future.
