The proposed hotel at the parking lot of the train station is out of character with the area and the community. Our small beach town of Carpinteria is unique, and we do not want to spoil it through excess commercialization. The hotel would block magnificent views of the mountains. The lot next to The Spot also offers beautiful views, and the whole area should be undeveloped open space.
The parking in the beach area is already a nightmare, and a hotel would make it much worse. During the summer months, and during holidays, people drive around and around trying to find a parking space. There are more cars than available spaces. As it is, home owners often cannot park in front of their houses.
Please say “no” to a RR hotel.
