When you realize that our mayor and members of City Council sought the proposal for the new 40 room hotel from the developer, you realize the clearly stated truth of the letter to the editor by Ms. Marla Daily published in CVN on Jan. 28. The mayor and select members of the City Council do not serve the city of Carpinteria or the wishes of its residents. They serve their personal agenda and gain!

All the opposition to the hotel was never a consideration. We will live with the overwhelming impact of this new hotel and of all subsequent and related businesses that will surely follow.

"Their personal agenda and gain" is a pretty ill informed statement. Knowing most of the council it was a very difficult decision for most. I personally can see rejecting or approving it as a 50/50 split. In context, this development is far, far better than that awful rental prison on the bottom of Linden over looking the beach.
