Marion Garcia

6/24/1921 – 12/29/2020

Marion L. Garcia passed peacefully on Dec. 29, 2020 at her home in Carson City, Nevada, at the age of 99. Born to Steven H. and Sadie Romero, Marion was a native of Carpinteria and the eldest of two siblings.

Marion married Arthur R. Garcia in June of 1946 and moved to North Hollywood, California. When Art retired in 1979, they returned to Carpinteria to be near Marion’s family, surrounded by the pleasures of small-community living. In their retirement years, she and Art traveled widely, pursuing the goal of visiting all 50 states in the U.S.A. Marion also enjoyed those years cooking, reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. After 66 years of marriage, Art passed away in 2013. Marion continued living in Carpinteria until 2016, when she moved to Carson City, Nevada, to be closer to her daughter.

Best-remembered as the “Sunshine Lady” of Sandpiper Mobile Village, Marion is survived by her daughter, Debra Maurer, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is now resting in the Carpinteria Cemetery alongside her beloved Art. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, no services will be scheduled.
