Jose M. Gonzales

Jose M. Gonzales

4/19/1951 – 10/7/2018

Jose M. Gonzales passed away peacefully and in good spirits on Oct. 7, 2018, in Santa Barbara.

His faith was important to him. Over the years, Jose was a presence in the Search and Crusade programs at St. Joseph Church. In recent years, he spent his time volunteering with Hospice and the Ridley Tree Cancer Foundation. Those who knew him saw firsthand his generosity, great sense of humor and willingness to help others in need.

At the age of 16, he started working at Delgado’s Restaurant in Carpinteria and was a permanent fixture there for more than 40 years. Jose was the son of Luis and Dolores Gonzales and is survived by siblings Juanita (Manuel) Torres and Luis (Grace) Gonzales Jr.

Jose was happiest when he was with his parents and now he has reunited with them. He was also very proud of his family, and always worked to make sure his nieces, nephews and those he loved were well taken care of.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild or friend, or take a walk along the beautiful Carpinteria beaches for a moment, an hour, or a day. Time waits for no one.
