Charmaine Josette Burnett

12/30/1940 – 12/23/2018

Charmaine Josette Burnett, 77, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2018, at Cottage Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on Dec. 30, 1940, in Butte, Montana, to Edwin Gerard Johnson and Joy Ellen Duffy-Johnson. She was the middle sibling to two sisters, Juanita Billet and Edell Zandona, who both preceded her in death.

Charmaine married her best friend and childhood sweetheart, Milton Kenneth Burnett, in Carpinteria on Dec. 31, 1960. Together they raised four children, Denise McNutt, Deanna Foley, Christine Rotsios and Kenneth Burnett.

Charmaine enjoyed working 30 years for the Carpinteria Unified School District, where she touched many lives as the middle school secretary. She loved her beach walks, traveling and spending time with family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, always thinking of others first. To know her was to love her.

Charmaine leaves her husband, four children, nine grandchildren, five great-grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, to cherish her loving memory.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carpinteria. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charmaine’s life.
