Retired CUSD teachers Martha McIntyre and Ceil Schnepple celebrated Thanksgiving in Antarctica, fulfilling a dream to visit the “Frozen Continent.” The adventurers landed on Half Moon Island, Danco Island, Necko Harbour and Demoy Point where they observed Chinstrap, Gentoo, Macaroni, and Adelie penguins. They also spied Crabeater, Leopard, and Weddell’s seals. From the deck of the MS Midnatsol, they watched Humpback whales and Orcas from afar and enjoyed the sight of various Antarctic birds. Both appreciated the wonderful weather, awe-inspiring landscape and fascinating wildlife.
