Drew Merryman brought a copy of Coastal View News on a backpacking trip to Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. The lake sits in a massive volcanic crater at an elevation of 5,125 feet in the Sierra Madre Mountains. With over 50 square miles of surface, the lake is home to many surrounding Mayan villages, including the “gateway” town of Panajachel, known for its textiles.
