The Santa Cruz Island Foundation (SCIF) has purchased the former Bank of America building at the corner of Carpinteria and Linden avenues. SCIF is a nonprofit created in 1985, whose mission is, “The California Islands—saving their history, telling their stories.”

The new location will be SCIF’s permanent headquarters as well as a museum, historical archives and educational center. “It is our desire this will complete a ‘cultural triangle’ in Carpinteria, embracing the Carpinteria Valley Museum and Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center,” representatives from SCIF told CVN.

“This opportunity has only been realized with the help of many generous members of our community,” SCIF representatives continued. “Much work is still to be done, and more details to follow next year.”
