The Carpinteria Lions Club’s ninth annual Festival of Trees concluded on Dec. 7, after selling a record-breaking 33,000 tickets, and tallying over 400 volunteer hours. Twenty lucky community members won their desired tree raffles and took home crates full of prizes, ranging from gift certificates to power tools to fantasy vacations and beyond. While the Lions Club elves continue to count the funds raised this year, we can now report that at least $33,000 were raised and each nonprofit recipient will receive a generous holiday bounty. This year’s recipients and gifts are as follows: Alcazar Theatre ($2,500), Carpinteria High School Boosters ($1,500), Movies in the Park ($1,000), Jr. Warriors of Carpinteria ($8,000), United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria Unit ($8,000) and Carpinteria High School Science Lab ($8,000—to be matched by Carpinteria Education Fund with an additional $8,000).
