Father Martini, back left, and Saint Joseph’s Church missionaries in Panama worked with the humanitarian non-profit group Floating Doctors. The organization has a main medical base in Panama and uses a fleet of small vessels to travel the mangrove waterways river systems to remote villages to provide health care. The brainchild of Dr. Benjamin LaBrot, Floating Doctors launched (literally) in 2010, when LaBrot and a group of volunteers re-fit a 110-foot steel-hulled sailing vessel and made their first mission to Haiti after the devastating earthquake there.
