On Feb. 2, Santa Barbara County reported 29,009 positive cases of Covid-19, indicating nearly 2,000 new cases in a seven-day period. There have now been 303 deaths countywide from Covid-19.

In the South County communities of Carpinteria, Montecito and Summerland there have been 1,136 confirmed cases and 11 deaths. In the city of Santa Barbara, there have been 5,276 cases and 55 deaths.

Countywide, among health care workers, there have been 1,246 reported cases; and the largest group impacted by race/ethnicity has been the Hispanic and Latino community with 16,148 confirmed cases (including 377 in Lompoc’s federal prison).     

There are currently 1,254 cases that are still classified as infectious countywide, including 86 in the South County communities.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department has tested 24,713 people for Covid-19 thus far. For more information, visit publichealthsbc.org.
