2:37 a.m. / Vehicle Vandalism / 4600 block 9th Street  

As a red Dodge Durango drove on 9th Street, the driver smashed the windows of three parked cars with a baseball bat. The suspect was not seen, but could be an ex-boyfriend of one of the victims.

Monday, Aug. 26  

7:33 p.m. / Stolen Vehicle / 8th Street  

At some time between Aug. 22 and Aug. 26, an unknown suspect(s) stole a vehicle parked on the street.

Tuesday, Aug. 27  

2:53 a.m. / Warrant Arrest / Lillie Avenue  

A man called 911 because he believed he was being harassed. He was found to be on county probation and also had a no-bail felony warrant for his arrest for possession of a flare gun. The man was arrested, transported and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.

Wednesday, Aug. 28  

11 p.m. / Warrant Arrest and Possession / 5800 block Carpinteria Avenue  

A man was seen driving eastbound on Carpinteria Avenue and was known to have a warrant for his arrest.  He was stopped and taken into custody without incident.  A search of his vehicle revealed a meth pipe with a usable amount of meth in the bowl. The man was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail.

3:07 a.m. / Warrant Arrest / Hwy 101 at Santa Claus Lane Off-ramp  

A man was travelling northbound on Hwy 101 and was subject to a vehicle stop for vehicle code violations. A record check showed he had an active warrant, and the man was arrested and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail.  

Thursday, Aug. 29    

11:09 a.m. / Theft of Surveillance Cameras / Shepard Mesa Road  

A caller reported that the gate to her residence was vandalized, possibly by her neighbor. She also reported that her surveillance cameras were stolen.  

6:28 p.m. / Public Intoxication / 1000 block Cramer Road  

Deputies responded to a fight in progress call. When deputies arrived, the fight was finished and the victims were uncooperative with the investigation. A man was found to be intoxicated in public, and he was arrested and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail.

10:06 p.m. / Possession and Weapon / Linden Avenue at Malibu Drive

A man was contacted, and a concealed ice pick was located in the front pocket of his shorts during a pat search. During a search incident to arrest, a baggie of methamphetamine and a meth pipe with residue were also located on his person. The man was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.

11:36 p.m. / Bar Check / Carpinteria Avenue  

A check of a pub resulted in an incident report for numerous violations.

12:18 a.m. / Theft of Bicycle / 700 block Linden Avenue  

A caller reported that his BMX bicycle was chained to the “Do Not Park” sign just outside a bar at about 10:45 p.m. He came back to find his bicycle stolen at about 12:10 a.m.

Friday, Aug. 30    

2:48 p.m. / Welfare Check / 3400 block Via Real  

A caller reported to her employer that another employee was harassing her at work and had attempted to kidnap her after work the day before. The male employee was contacted and denied trying to harm the reporting party in anyway. He said that the caller’s husband may have discovered that they were having an affair, and now she wants to end their relationship.  He showed deputies photos and telephone calls he received from the reporting party that contradicts her story. The HR department was contacted and they agreed to move both parties to separate work locations.   

5:39 p.m. / Possession / Carpinteria Avenue at Cramer Road

Deputies were dispatched to a neighbor problem on Carpinteria Avenue. A man was contacted leaving the area and found to be in possession of a used syringe and a used meth pipe with a usable amount of meth in the bowl. He was cited and the report also documented the ongoing neighbor dispute between the man and his neighbor.

8:51 p.m. / Theft / 1000 block Casitas Pass Road  

After ordering food, the victim was getting sauce packets and set his wallet down on the counter. Once his food was ready, the victim left the restaurant without his wallet and cell phone. The victim arrived home and realized he did not have his wallet and cell phone with him. By the time the victim returned to the restaurant, his property was gone. A report was taken and the manager will attempt to get surveillance video.  

12:30 a.m. / Narcotics Violations / Via Real  

A man was contacted sitting in his parked vehicle. Upon contact, a methamphetamine pipe was seen in plain view on his lap. A probable cause search of his vehicle resulted in additional paraphernalia, methamphetamine and black tar heroin. He was arrested for multiple narcotic violations. While waiting for a person to retrieve the vehicle and dog inside, a woman approached and stated that she was the man’s friend and would take possession of the vehicle and dog. A record check showed she had a misdemeanor warrant. She also had a used hypodermic needle in her pocket, along with numerous pieces of mail from multiple addresses ranging from Santa Barbara County to Ventura County. She was arrested and they were both transported to Santa Barbara County Jail. A third party, who did not have warrants or drug paraphernalia, responded and took the vehicle and dog.

Saturday, Aug. 31  

7:01 p.m. / Drunk in Public / 4800 block 5th Street  

Deputies responded to the Amtrak station on a report of a male subject yelling and acting intoxicated. A man was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail without incident.

 

2138 / Outside Agency Assist / 9th Street  

Deputies and Carpinteria/ Summerland Fire Engine #61 responded to a residence where food had been left in the oven that was burning and filling the house with smoke. Fire personnel   removed the two occupants. One resident had to be carried out due to his level of intoxication. Once the residence was made safe, one of the occupants was transported by ambulance to Cottage Hospital. There was no loss due to fire, only smoke from burning food.

12:34 a.m. / Narcotics Arrest / Carpinteria Avenue  

A man was contacted after an anonymous caller stated he was seen smoking methamphetamine in his vehicle. Upon contacting the man, a deputy observed objective symptomology consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance. An exam was conducted in the field and the man was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.
