This year’s Coastal Cleanup Day is slated for Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. During the international cleanup event, volunteers will meet at Rincon/Bates Beach, Jelly Bowl, Tar Pits, State Beach, Carpinteria City beaches and Santa Claus Lane to participate in three hours of beach cleanup under the direction of volunteer “captains.” Countywide in Santa Barbara around 3,000 pounds of trash are removed each year on Coastal Cleanup Day.
