Carpinteria Mentor Program

Marybeth Carty, left, founded the Carpinteria Mentor Program which is now managed by Brita Connelly, far right, pictured here with Morning Rotary President Rena VanKirk, center.

The Mentor Program for the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is currently looking for mentors for youth, particularly to work with third- through eighth-graders. Marybeth Carty started the mentor program in Carpinteria, which she says has a proven need as demonstrated by the waiting list. Mentors make a commitment to meet students for about one hour each week to offer friendship, support and guidance throughout the year. This mutually beneficial friendship often lasts several years. For more information visit cadasb.org or email Brita at bconnelly@cadasb.org
