CARP Growers held its annual meeting on April 2 at Island Brewing Company, seating a new board of directors for the one-year-old 501C6 nonprofit. The association named a new seven-member board of directors: Graham Farrar (president), Anthony Staal (secretary), Kyle Hardy (treasurer), and directors Hans Brand, Mike Palmer, Tristan Strauss and Winfred Van Wingerden. With the aim of integrating into the Carpinteria community through engagement and responsible farming, the association’s mission is to “foster a positive relationship with the community of Carpinteria by promoting best practices among cannabis growers.”

Outgoing president Van Wingerden said, “I couldn’t be more pleased with our group’s work in year one. In addition to self-policing our members to ensure everyone keeps up with all of the rules, we were able to show our support for many of the local nonprofits and service groups that make Carpinteria such a special place.” CARP Growers have supported The Food Liaison Christmas in July Fundraiser, California Avocado Festival, Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce, Carpinteria Sunset Rotary Club, Carpinteria Rotary Club Talent Showcase, Carpinteria Lions Club Festival of Trees and the Jr. Warrior Football Program, among others.
