This month, Carpinteria-based architectural lighting company BEGA committed $15,000 in local purchases to support Carpinteria businesses and to give back to their employees. The company purchased hundreds of gift certificates from local restaurants and gave them to their employees to spend. Restaurants include employee favorites Uncle Chen, Jack’s Bistro & Famous Bagels, Peebee & Jay’s, Giovanni’s, The Food Liaison and Siam Elephant Thai. Additionally, BEGA partnered with Ocean Breeze flowers to distribute bouquets to employees.

“Our community may be sheltering at this moment, but it’s far from dormant,” said BEGA president Don Kinderdick. “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many local businesses, such as restaurants, growers and small business owners that are struggling to keep their doors open. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be in the position we are, so we thought, how can we give back and support our Carpinteria community? Thus, we are proud to announce the BEGA Community Outreach Program, a partnership with local flower growers, local restaurants, food banks and homeless shelters to provide community support.”
