Patricia Oreña traveled to Italy in March to visit Rome, Assisi, Lucca and Venice. Friends of hers from Santa Barbara are living in Lucca, Tuscany, for a year. At San Michele Basilica in Lucca, Oreña took a moment for her portrait with the Coastal View News. Lucca is known for its cobblestone streets and well-preserved Renaissance walls that encircle the city’s historic center. The city’s 41 churches (down from an historic high of 100) provided Lucca’s 88,000 residents a with good per-capita ratio for places of worship.
