Kristin Nicole Roberts and Ivan Volodimir Van Wingerden exchanged their marriage vows on Oct. 22, 2016 at the Black Walnut Ranch in Ojai, Calif. The couple married beneath the walnut trees surrounded by their loving family and friends. During the ceremony, Anastasia Van Wingerden, the groom’s younger sister, debuted an original song written for the couple, “Forevermore.” The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s cousin and Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages, Ivor Van Wingerden.
The bride’s parents are Stephen and Pamela Roberts of Nevada City, Calif. The groom’s parents are Eduard and Nadia Van Wingerden of Carpinteria.
The couple met while attending California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 2009. Kristin graduated with a Bachelor of Soil Science degree in June 2010, and Ivan graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor of Art of English degree in June 2010. The college sweethearts were drawn together by their mutual love of outdoor adventure, agriculture, the environment, and Tiegan and Chico, their dogs. The newlyweds reside in Carpinteria on the family’s avocado ranch, and they plan to honeymoon in New Zealand in late February 2017.
