WEV

Grants were given to 60 local businesses, 10 from Carpinteria, that had been impacted by the Thomas Fire and Montecito debris flow.

On the one-year anniversary of the start of the Thomas Fire, Wells Fargo and Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV) awarded $450,000 to small businesses that were impacted by the fire and Montecito debris flow. Dozens of business owners met at the Carpinteria Garden Park to receive their awards on Dec. 4. With input from the nonprofit and small business sectors in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, Wells Fargo and WEV collaboratively developed a small business disaster recovery and resiliency grant program. WEV reviewed 150 grant applications from small businesses throughout the region and selected 60 to receive grant amounts of either $5,000 or $10,000. Ten Carpinteria businesses received grants, Carpinteria Wine Company, Los Padres Outfitters, Mystical Abode, Red Hen Cannery, Rowan Boutique, Roxanne’s Quilts, The Farm Cart, The Kitchen Gardener, Traveling Pants and Bon Fortune.
