Bon Fortune

Bon Fortune’s elegant party supplies, toys and books will be available to shoppers again on Thursday, March 1.

Severe ash damage from the Thomas Fire, worsened by leaks from the powerful rains that caused the debris flows, forced Gina and Blake Andrews to close their Linden Avenue shop, Bon Fortune, for the past two months. Cut off from Carpinteria from their home in Santa Barbara, the Andrewses were unable to begin clean up until Highway 101 opened, but the need to re-paint and replace inventory offered the husband-and-wife team the opportunity to rethink their merchandising and expand their retail offerings of celebration supplies, stationary and seasonal goods to include more toys, books and gifts for all ages.

“The full project will be complete late spring,” Gina said, “but our doors will open Thursday, March 1, featuring seasonal goods for Easter and spring. We truly appreciate the calls, notes and gestures of good will from the community and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to a vital downtown corridor. Bon Fortune along with neighbor retailers are very fortunate to bounce back, but we really need the support of this community to keep it going.”
