Rock and funk band Avocado Sundae will be performing a concert at the Alcazar Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 8 p.m. Comprised of Neil Gegna, Pete Delaney, Bill Burke and Rich Mahan, these California natives are a self-proclaimed group of “Psychedelic Funkateers readying cosmonauts in the know for a funkafied journey into the groovtastic,” according to their Facebook page.
This group of friends came together through their mutual love of music to begin their band in 1985. Some of their influences include The Grateful Dead, The Meters, Dr. John, Funkadelic and James Brown. According to their Facebook, their tunes are “rootsy, funky, acid-laced improv jams that take the band on extended groove missions deep into the heart of Funkville.” Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $25.
