Ojai artist Liberty Hanson-Wild will have mixed-media on exhibit at Porch from Sept. 6 through Oct. 30. The artist will donate 10 percent of sales to Ojai Valley Land Conservancy, and Porch will match this amount.
“My long-suppressed desire to become an artist was realized six years ago,” Hanson-Wild wrote, “after a serious accident left me with a broken body, but also with the time to heal and reflect.”
She found solace in the outdoors on long, slow walks in nature as she was healing. “It was in these conversations with nature I began to explore concepts that are now central to my work. She began to incorporate collage, photography and encaustic painting (a mixed media technique using pigmented beeswax).
Hanson-Wild has lived in Ojai with her husband and dog for the past year. Prior to that she lived in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta. She continues to spend time in nature on the trails, and has the utmost gratitude for the protected land and maintained trails in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Porch, 3823 Santa Claus Lane, will host an artist’s reception on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. with refreshments. For more information, call (805) 684-0300.
