“Pomegranate” created with oil pastels by fifth-grader Amelia Power during the summer virtual art class.

The Carpinteria Arts Center is offering free virtual afterschool art classes starting Thursday, Sept. 24. Two six-week sessions, one for elementary-age students and one for teens, will be offered via Zoom. The classes are free, but there is a supply bag fee of $20. Scholarships are available, and advanced registration is required. Supply pick-up day is Friday, Sept. 18. The program has been sponsored by the 93013Fund and the Santa Barbara Foundation. Program Chairs Marty Selfridge and Gary Campopiano shared that, “the hope of the program team is to continue to provide creative experiences and opportunities to connect with others, even during the pandemic.”
